I N
Lord,
T H E F I E L DS
when I look at lovely things which pass,
Under old trees the shadow of young leaves
Dancing
to please the wind along the grass,
Or the gold stillness
Can I believe
of the Augu st sun on the August, sheave s ;
there is a heavenlier
worl d than this ?
And if the r e is
Will the strange heart of any everlasting thing
Bring me t hese d rea ms t hat take my breath away?
They c ome at even ing with the home-flying rooks and the scent of hay,
Over the fields.
They
c ome in Spr i ng.
