BUFFALO, N. Y. - Two Biafran literary artists. Chinua Achebe, a novelist, and
Gabriel Okara. a poet. will present a lecture and a reading at the State University at
Buffalo at 8:30 p. m. Tuesday (April 8) in Butler Auditorium of Capen Hall on the campus.
The program is being sponsored by the University's Department of English. and
American Studies and Black Studies Programs.

Messrs Achebe and Okara are beginning

a tour of the United States sponsored by the Committee for Biafran Artists and Writers
for distinguished Biafran literary artists.
Mr. Achebe was educated at Government College. Umahia and University College
Ibadan. He worked for the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation from 1954 to 1967. His
major works include "Things Fall Apart" (1958), "No Longer at Ease, " (1960), "Arrow
of God. " (1964) and "A Man of the People. "
Mr. Okara has had his poems published in the United States, Sweden, Western Ger­
many and Italy. In addition he has written short stories. film scripts and published a
novel, "The Voice" (1964).
