The Black People's Library

and dilapidated h o u s ing" In 'Buffalo's inner city.
In a letter to Mayor Makowski and 10 of the city's 15 oouncilmen, Hugh E. Bassette,
Supervisor of the group, said:
... "Since the major reason for
the housing blight seems to be
a
lack of manpower, we c a n
provide individuals who are
willing to volunteer their .time
in the inspection process as
well
as helping to locate absente\ landlords."
The Library is operated by
3
the Black Student Union and
Third
World Veterans Alliance
from the State University of
Buffalo. It works on community projects year-round and
community-based storefront during thesummer.
