IS MUTUALLY AGREED between the parties hereto for themselves and
their respective executors and administrators (or successors as the case may be)
as follows :I.

THE Author grants the Publisher the sole and exclusive li cense during

the period

of this agreement

to produce, publish and sell in any form in the English language and in all parts
of the world, the work at present entitled "THE FARMER'S BRIDE"

additional poems)
which has bee n or is to be written, compiled or edite d by the Auth or.
2.

THE Publisher agrees to publish the said work within a reasonable period
from th e last sheet being passed for press, in the first instance, · at a

pay th e Author the following Royalties on the published price of each and all
copies sold, namely

10% on t he first 500 copies, and
15% on a ll subsequent copies.

3.

THE Publ is her shall also pay the Author a Royalty of 15%
on the net proceeds of the sale by him of any rights, plates,

blocks, moulds or editions (bound or in sheets) of or in the said work with
a view to its publication in America or elsewhere abroad.

4.

THE Author shall be duly consulted as to the mann er and style of
production of the said work.

All details, however, as to the mann er of

Publication and Advertisement, the terms of sale to the ordinary trade, and th e
number and destination of free copies shall be left to the sole discretion of the
Publisher who shall bear all expenses of production, publication and advertisement of the said work.

THE Author guarantees to keep the Publisher indemnified against all

THE Author agrees that if corrections on the proof of the said work
(other than printer's errors, · or publisher's typographical emendations) shall

THE Author shall be entitled to receive on publication

day of December in each year, delivered on or before the following Thirtieth
day of September and Thirty-first day of March, and settled by cash within one
month from the date of delivery.

8.

IN the event of any request being preferred by any third party for
permission to reprint in any anthology or collection of poems any selections
from the said work, the Publisher shall not have the right to veto the
Author's decision in such matter, unless such selection exceed in length
printed lines of the said work.

IF in the opinion of the Publisher the said work shall have ceased to
have a remunerative sale, he shall duly inform the Author of such opinion.

The Author shall thereupon be entitled to purchase the entire remaining stock
of the said work with the exception of twelve copies, at a rate equivalent to
Twenty-five per cent. of the published price.
In the event ot the Author expressing a refusal in writing to carry out the
said purchase, the Publisher shall be entitled to sell the entire remaining
stock of the said work at such price as he may deem fit and shall pay the
Author Five per cent. of the net proceeds of such sale. ·
